About the event

The Princess and the Pea tells of the Prince’s hilarious encounters with some spooky princesses before finishing with the traditional tale…with maybe just one more twist!

We join our Prince as he scours the land for a Princess to marry. She must be single.  She must be beautiful. And she must not be trying to eat him! Having failed to find anyone who fits the ‘trying not to eat him’ category, he finally returns home, only for the perfect princess to arrive in a storm. But is she all that she appears to be? Will she pass the princess test? And is she definitely trying not to eat him?

Full of singing, dancing, counting, phonics and madcap fun, this interactive storytelling show is a fun way for kids and grown-ups to enjoy Halloween without inducing nightmares!

WHAT TIME IS THE SHOW

This performance is at 10:30am.  To book the 1:30pm performance return to the What's On Page and click on the listing below this one.

WHERE IS THE SHOW

The show is in a studio space at The Exchange, Twickenham. The space is ample and suitable for children to move around and sit on the floor.

HOW MUCH ARE THE TICKETS

Adults and kids must buy a ticket for the show, priced at £8 each. Babes in arms come for free (see more details below)

HOW LONG IS THE SHOW?

The show is approx. 45 mins, but it takes us a while to get everyone in and out, so we allow an hour.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?

The ‘set’ will be around the outside of the studio and the kids will sit in the middle initially. We get up and move around the space, visiting the different parts of the set as we move between ‘locations’. Grown-ups will be provided with a chair around the edge to sit and enjoy the show. It’s up to your kids if they join in or not. They are welcome to stay with you and enjoy the show if they are happier. Equally, grown-ups are more than welcome to join in the fun, and I imagine that for some of you, your kids won’t give you a choice!

THE PARENTS ROLE

We want you to enjoy the show as much as the kids.  However, we must stress that your child remains your responsibility throughout the performance. Some kids can get very excited by the interactive nature. We ask that you ensure your child is joining in safely and is not putting the other children at risk. The storyteller will ask children who become too excited to rejoin their parents for a minute or two to regulate before inviting them back into the story. We also respectfully ask that you don’t gossip with friends during the performance, but please do feel free to talk to your child. Some children benefit from additional parent narration, and we would thoroughly encourage that. Please could you also ensure that your children don’t touch the set!

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Fancy dress is thoroughly encouraged. Otherwise, something comfortable in which you can move. Children will be required to keep their shoes on.

CAN I BRING MY BABY?

Of course! We love babies at Story Storks. If your child is babes in arms, i.e. under 18 months, they come for free. If you think your child will want to join in, we ask you to pay for a space for them.

CAN WE EAT AND DRINK

Yes, but please keep all food and drink to the side of the room. All drinks must have a lid on them.

MY CHILD IS SEN. WILL THIS WORK FOR THEM?

Absolutely. The performance is extremely relaxed, with lots of interaction with the storyteller. Our storyteller on this occasion is a trained teacher who has a good amount of experience working with kids with needs. We encourage you to contact us first so that we can discuss the individual needs of your child and make reasonable adjustments.
