About the Role

Requirements

I set up Story Storks, an Early Years theatre company, in 2011.  Initially delivering storytelling workshops as weekly classes, the company expanded into schools and then into theatre shows.  It was all going so well…and then COVID came along.  The pandemic severely bruised the business, but it still lives on, and I now find myself at the point where I get to rebuild with the benefit of 12 years of experience behind me.

It’s a really exciting time, and I’m currently in the process of assembling an Advisory Committee with the view to converting the company to a charity.  I’m looking for someone with finance experience to come on board.  Initially, you’ll be helping to ensure that our current systems are ready for the conversion process and helping to shape financial strategy.  Then, once we convert to charity status, we’d like you to stay on board and sign up as a trustee.

Your role as a trustee would be to:

-        Protect and manage the charities' assets

-        Actively manage risks

-        Help the organisation to ethically grow its income

-        Attend committee meetings around 6 times a year

-        Be available to advise the management team on various finance issues as and when needed

Ideally, you will be:

-        A person who has experience or training in finance and/or accounting

-        A parent (for once it’s going to be an advantage!)

-        Some experience with Quickbooks would be ideal, but not essential

Being familiar with Story Storks is an advantage in that you’ll already know what we do, but if you’re unfamiliar, we can bring you up to speed pretty quickly.

The role is a voluntary one, though reasonable expenses will be compensated, and I envision will take up around 2 – 4 hours a month.  That said, the role is new, so you will have the chance to shape it into what you want it to be.

If this sounds interesting, then drop me an e-mail with a paragraph on why you’re interested and what you think you could bring, and we’ll take it from there.

The closing date for applications is Friday 19th January.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks
