GOLDILOCK AND THE THREE BEARS Storytelling Workshop 1:30pm

Goldilocks tells the traditional tale of how The Three Bears encountered a child like no other, survived an encounter with everyone’s favourite blond-haired bad girl!

We join Goldilocks as she takes her goldfish on a walk through the woods. But after she trips and the water flies out of the fishbowl, it looks like her favourite pet is done for unless she can replace the water fast. Perhaps that cottage over the way might be able to help? And it has a delicious smell of porridge coming from it!

Full of singing, dancing, counting, phonics and madcap fun, this immersive storytelling workshop is a fun way for early years kids (and grown-ups) a classic tale with a focus on vocabulary for early years maths.

WHERE IS THE WORKSHOP

The workshops are in The Conservatory at The Exchange, Twickenham. The space is ample and suitable for children to move around and sit on the floor.

HOW MUCH IS IT

It’s £8 per child, and £1 for adults. Babes in Arms come for free, and the workshop is recommended for children aged 2+. If you have a little one who is under 2 but likely to want to join in, we ask that you pay for them too.

HOW LONG IS THE WORKSHOP

Approx 45 mins, but it takes us a while to get everyone in and out so allow an hour.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?

The kids come and sit on the floor with the storyteller to start with. We then do a warm-up before diving into the story. The children will be invited to join in with the story. We move around the room, act out parts of the story and even play some musical instruments. There is lots of fun to be had!

THE PARENTS ROLE

We want you to enjoy the workshop too, and would thoroughly encourage you to join in, especially if you have a little one. We do understand that for some, getting up and down off the floor is a challenge, so there will be chairs available if you prefer.

We must stress that your child remains your responsibility throughout the workshop. Some kids can get very excited by the interactive nature. We ask that you ensure your child is joining in safely and is not putting the other children at risk. The storyteller will ask children who become too excited to rejoin their parents for a minute or two to regulate before inviting them back into the story.

We also respectfully ask that you don’t gossip with friends during the workshop, but please do feel free to talk to your child. Some children benefit from additional parent narration, and we would thoroughly encourage that. Please could you also ensure that your children don’t touch the instruments or props.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Fancy dress is thoroughly encouraged. Otherwise, something comfortable in which you can move. Children will be required to keep their shoes on.

CAN I BRING MY BABY?

Of course! We love babies at Story Storks. If your child is babes in arms, i.e. under 18 months, they come for free. If you think your child will want to join in, we ask you to pay for a space for them.

CAN WE EAT AND DRINK

Yes, but please keep all food and drink to the side of the room. All drinks must have a lid on them.

MY CHILD IS SEN. WILL THIS WORK FOR THEM?

Absolutely. The performance is extremely relaxed, with lots of interaction with the storyteller. Our storyteller on this occasion is a trained teacher who has a good amount of experience working with kids with needs. We encourage you to contact us first so that we can discuss the individual needs of your child and make reasonable adjustments.
