MAKING STORY STORKS COVID-19 SAFE
Story Storks on the Fairfield
In order to make Story Storks as safe as possible, we've put the following guidance together for everyone who attends.
GETTING TO THE FAIRFIELD
Please travel to the Fairfield in line with the current guidance. At the time of writing, everyone is invited to use public transport. There is on road parking (On Fairfield Road) which is pay and display. There will be plenty of room for buggies, and bikes too.
ARRIVING & DEPARTING
You can arrive up to 15 mins earlier than the scheduled start time, but we ask that you don't arrive any earlier than this to avoid congestion with a previous session. Once the workshop has finished, we'll need to clear the performance area pretty quickly. You're of course more than welcome to enjoy the rest of the Fairfield.
SOCIAL DISTANCING & MINIMISING CONTACT
Please bring a picnic rug with you. We'll be sitting in a big semi-circle. The workshop will still involve plenty of action, but kids will do them on the spot.
I am also unable to give out instruments to the children as I would normally. You'll be contacted by e-mail before the workshop with any suggestions of instruments that you might bring from home. This will include a suggestion of an alternative that can be easily found around the house so that no-one misses out.
HAND SANITISER & MASKS
If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask then you should do so. Children are not permitted to wear masks until they are over 4. Hand sanitiser will be available for you to use before and after the session if you wish.
Research is underway to discover if singing causes an increase in COVID-19 transmission or if the choirs were affected because of a lack of social distancing. Government guidance states that only professionals should sing, and they are 3m away from the audience at the very least. I will be keeping my distance when I sing, and I have a microphone so that I don't need to project my voice. I would suggest that adults refrain from singing. Children are being encouraged to sing in early years settings, so I see no reason why they can't continue to sing along at Story Storks.
AVOIDING A CROWD GATHERING
The area in which Story Storks will take place will be cordoned off with bunting. There will be signage to say that the session is a private workshop and discourage people from stopping to watch.
TEST AND TRACE
At the time of booking, you will need to leave your phone number and a mobile number so that Test and Trace can be applied if necessary. Should you be asked to isolate, please let us know. Your booking will either be moved or refunded. We are continuing with online Story Storks every Thursday throughout August for those who won't be able to join us.
We have worked together with Kingston Council to ensure that these events are as safe as they possibly can be, so that you can turn up and enjoy some live storytelling.
